From psychology to talent acquisition at Alstom!
I've always been fascinated by what moves people both individually and collectively, and how people and organisations can thrive. As a naturally curious person who loves connecting with others, I've found my ideal role at Alstom. Working here, I get to combine my passion for people and my growing love for trains - we literally move people every day!
Each day is an opportunity to learn something new about our industry and to uplift my talented colleagues and the work we do. My goal is to build an even stronger foundation with everyone at Alstom, creating and maintaining a diverse, skilled, and versatile workforce. Together, we'll continue what we do best: building and maintaining rail vehicles and systems for train safety across the globe!
I hire all sorts of talented personnel every day!
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, I am responsible for attracting and selecting the best (technical) personnel for our business. from technical personnel such as mechanics to electrical engineers or a project engineering manager, a finance director, or for example a supply chain leader. I translate what's needed on the ground and spread the word to find our new colleagues!
Learning something new while making a difference in the world!
Working at Alstom is exciting for me due to the unique opportunity to navigate and thrive within a large international matrix organisation. It allows me to focus on continuous learning and the improvement of processes, which I find both challenging and rewarding. The dynamic nature of the organisation keeps me engaged, and I’m constantly inspired by the talented individuals with whom I get to work. Additionally, I am increasing my knowledge in technology and engineering, for example in areas such as obsolescence management. There truly is a wealth of knowledge and innovation in the railway industry that I love exploring.
Stay curious, be authentic, and don't stop learning!
In a world where we’re often told to be ourselves, not many of us actually are. My best advice is to genuinely strive to be authentic. It can be difficult and scary, but at the end of the day, we need voices that dare to stand out. That said, be mindful of how you use AI... it’s easy to point out when someone relies too heavily on it. So, when applying for a job or sending emails, use AI primarily as a grammar and spelling check rather than as the main thing! I love to meet the real you soon!
the creation of 'Young Alstom' within the Netherlands
One of my key contributions across our various sites, as well as improving alignment within the larger organisation, has been the initiation of ‘Young Alstom,’ which I developed with a talented colleague. We recognised that, while several sites in the Netherlands have merged into Alstom over the last decade, they often remain physically and culturally apart. We also noticed that young people within the company have similar needs but aren't connected to each other. To address this, we established a solid foundation for the initiative. With strong support and endorsement from management, we are excited to officially launch the program in 2025.
It will foster greater connection and engagement among our young employees, support their knowledge and their professional and individual growth, and ultimately strengthen our business objectives and connections to other companies in the sector as well.
