I would say the Swedish work atmosphere is based on Equality and Trust. One strong factor is the sense of a non-hierarchical organization; all team members are expected to share their thoughts, their concerns and any ideas regardless of their current position or experience. This strong openness across organisation levels supports to get diverse perspectives, promotes innovation spirit and encouraging everyone to collaborate in finding solutions. Overall creating an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels that their opinion matters. Perhaps this is some remaining streak of the old so-called “Jantelag” in Scandinavian countries.
Moreover, Everyone is fully trusted to take complete ownership of their tasks and expected to reach out for any kind of support they may need. This autonomy increases motivation and improves the independence, while reducing the need of micromanagement. Swedish employees often have the choice to work from home and also flexibility on work hours, as long as they are performing according to expectations and much importantly - keeping a good work-life balance.
